OUR ORIGIN

After working in the Interior Design and Architecture industry for nearly 20 years our CEO and founder, Christie Porter, saw so much going to waste every year. After starting ONE NINE Architecture in 2018 she saw an opportunity to repurpose materials from projects and jobsites into everyday products.

That idea became the basis for ONE NINE Mercantile and the heart of how we operate as a company, but she wanted to take that a step further!

After already donating a 10-30% of ONE NINE Architecture’s time to those in need, she thought why not make that the goal for the store, so she did. A percentage of every purchase is donated to ONE NINE for Humanity. The company’s mission is to support the nonprofit’s effort in completing as many kids’ bedroom makeovers for kids in need as possible.

The meaning behind our name:

ONE NINE is the anchor to all of our companies and our nonprofit. After much thought Christie did not want the company to be named after her, but instead, to make clear that the path to building a company takes a team and reliance on GOD. Coming from a poor family, Christie never imagined achieving all that she has today. Being the first to graduate from college, and the only Female CEO on both sides of her family she recognized that without God’s support none of it would be possible. The verse that has given Christie the strength to keep fighting and working towards her goals is:

“This is my command - BE STRONG and COURAGEOUS! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” - Joshua 1:9

It seemed only fitting to use this verse as the anchor behind the ONE NINE brand.

OUR PASSION

Christie knew that without the support of others and GOD, she would not be where she is today. Our passion is to use our profits, time, and products to help those in need. With the programs we created our goal isn’t to just use a portion of our sales to help pay for a kid’s bedroom for those in need, but we also donate products to other nonprofits or families when possible. Whether that be pencil bags for Christmas gifts for orphans in Mexico, custom furniture for a bedroom makeover, or clothes to the homeless and other organizations. We do what we can to give back because even the smallest gesture can be lifechanging to someone in need and Christie is proof of that.

We are dedicated to using our resources to help others as much as possible and every sale helps contribute to our cause and spread our reach!

OUR MISSION

Recycling, repurposing, and reducing waste is a large part of our mission. With so much going into the trash daily, our goal is to salvage those items and turn them into useful products. We also saw the opportunity to bring jobs back to the US and with all our items being handmade in the US we pride ourselves in the care we bring to our products. Lastly, donating to those in need is a large part of why we were formed and is our goal. We know the value in each of these aspects and hope that we can ignite a new movement around how businesses operate.
